Former Hoosier, Chris Benz, Heading to a Pro Training Camp

2010/11 IU Hockey ACHA D1 Team captain will take a shot at an ECHL Team in the 2011/2012 Training Camp.

IU Ice Hockey Club –
Indiana University’s ACHA D1 Ice Hockey Club, is proud to announce, that the IU graduate and a 2010/2011 Team Captain, Chris Benz, came to a tryout agreement with a Minor Professional Ice Hockey Team, and a member of the East Coast Hockey League.

Benz, 22, a native of Glenview, Illinois was a four year standout with the IU Ice Hockey Club. In 2010/2011, Benz accumulated for 17 goals, 14 assists, and 31 points, in 34 games of play. Over his career with an IU Ice Hockey Team, Benz registered 154 points in 133 games played. Benz also received an award as the team’s 2010/11 Offensive Player of The Year.

The ECHL is a Minor Professional “AA” level of ice hockey competition, and a direct affiliate of the American Hockey League, and the National Hockey League. The 2011-2012 Training Camp will take place in early October. The name of the team is not announced at this time until the further team media release, due to its internal policy.
