Hoosiers wrap up season with loss to RMU

2012-02-22

IU dropped its final game of the season 7-1 against Robert Morris at the CSCHL Tournament

Indiana played Robert Morris for the third game in a row last Friday at the CSCHL Tournament in Athens, Ohio. And for the third time in a row, the Hoosiers (11-19-2) were on the wrong end of a lopsided score. Though the game was closer than the 7-1 margin indicated, IU was unable to prevent the #11 Eagle offense from lighting the lamp.

The Hoosiers rebounded from a shaky first period to stay with Robert Morris in the second and third. But with RMU capitalizing on most of its prime scoring chances, the IU offense could not keep pace. Freshman Tommy Washburn had the lone IU goal. Robert Morris would go on to lose to host Ohio University in the semi-finals.

Indiana did not qualify for the national tournament, after remaining outside the top 25 in the final rankings which came out last week. Robert Morris qualified for nationals, finishing 10th. The remaining five CSCHL teams will also be at the national tournament, with #24 Kent State getting an automatic bid as the tournament host. The top 20 teams in the rankings qualify for the tournament, which will be held in Cleveland.
