BSME degree options

Biomechanics, Mechatronics and Nanoscience, and Molecular Engineering are the three formal degree options for undergraduate ME students. These degree options have an application process separate from admission to the ME Major. The degree options encompass senior-year curricula that lead to earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with Option in Biomechanics, or Mechatronics, or Nanoscience and Molecular Engineering.

Biomechanics »

Biomechanics is the study of the mechanical laws relating to the movement or structure of living organisms. This field represents the broad interplay between mechanics and biological systems, from the nano scale to whole-body systems.

Mechatronics »

Mechatronics deals with the integration of mechanical, electrical, and computer technologies into the design of complex products. Traditional design methods view these components as separate, but Mechatronics emphasizes global optimization by integrating these components of the design process.

Nanoscience and Molecular Engineering »

Nanoscience is the study of structures, materials, and devices with nanometer-sized features. Molecular engineering concerns how new materials, systems, and processes can be enabled by designing and tailoring properties and structures at the molecular level. The field of nanoscience and molecular engineering is at the forefront of scientific research.
